Sharing his opinion of regulating online advertising, the European Data Protection Supervisor Wojciech Wiewiórowski stated that digital services have been designed to track and target to achieve engagement. Acknowledging that the proposed Digital Services Act and the Proposal for a Regulation on the Transparency and Targeting of Political Advertising address risks related to transparency, however transparency itself is insufficient and something more is needed than increased transparency.
