13:15 – 14:00 - Utilities, communications, manufacturers and more: beware! Protecting IT and OT networks is getting harder

The categories of critical infrastructure vary from one nation to the next, but they all have one thing in common; their IT and operational technology (OT) networks are essential both to corporate owners and the nations themselves. Ransomware attacks against industrials alone were up 87% in 2024. Whether the threats come from cyber-criminals or nation-state actors, attacks on critical infrastructure, crucial to our economies and public order, can exceed ransomware in their destructive capability. This panel will help you understand where the threats are coming from, the reasons behind this growth, and the impact these kinds of attacks can have.

14:00 – 14:45 - Global health data under siege: navigating cybersecurity, privacy, and international regulations in healthcare

Last year’s Change Healthcare data breach, which affected 190 million people, led to extensive class action litigation in the United States and highlighted the global vulnerabilities in health data security. This breach underscores the immense pressure on health data, which is particularly valuable to hackers. As the European Union moves forward with its European Health Data Space initiative, the interconnectedness of US, EU and other nations’ health data regulations becomes increasingly crucial. Meanwhile, tracking pixels and software development kits that harvest users’ data pose significant regulatory challenges for startups and medical providers worldwide. What is it about health data that makes it so appealing to cybercriminals and how are regulators across the globe responding? Will the rise of generative AI exacerbate these challenges, or can it be leveraged to enhance data protection and patient privacy? Join us as we explore these pressing issues and the evolving landscape of international health data security and privacy.

14:45 – 15:00 - Coffee Break
15:00 – 15:45 - Major scrutiny on minors’ data

Increasingly, lawmakers in states like Texas and California, as well as regulators in Canada, the EU and elsewhere, are prioritizing the online privacy and safety of children and teenagers, as tech platforms warn investors they could lose unfettered access to the personal data of teens. But will laws like the Texas SCOPE Act and the California Age-Appropriate Design Code that draw on the experience of the UK and Europe be able to stand up to First Amendment challenges? Has Canadian Privacy Commissioner Dufresne’s declaration to focus on kids’ privacy borne any fruit?
