Esteban Andrés Dávila Caicedo is a Senior Associate at BUSTAMANTE FABARA and co-leads the firm’s Privacy and Personal Data Protection practice. With more than a decade of experience in competition law and over five years focused on privacy and data protection, he advises clients at the intersection of data governance, regulatory compliance, competition and business risk.
His practice focuses on privacy and personal data protection, competition and antitrust law, and compliance. Esteban has developed substantial experience advising national and international companies on the design, implementation and review of privacy compliance frameworks under Ecuadorian data protection law, helping organizations translate regulatory requirements into practical and sustainable governance structures.
He regularly advises clients on the collection, processing, transfer, retention and protection of personal data, as well as on the development and implementation of internal privacy policies, privacy notices, consent mechanisms, data processing agreements and risk mitigation strategies. His work also encompasses the assessment of privacy risks and the alignment of internal processes with applicable data protection requirements.
Esteban also serves as a Data Protection Officer (DPO), supporting organizations with ongoing privacy governance, regulatory compliance, internal controls and the management of their data protection obligations. In this capacity, he provides strategic and operational guidance aimed at embedding privacy considerations into organizations’ day-to-day decision-making and compliance structures.
In addition, he has broad experience conducting privacy and data protection due diligence, assessing organizations’ level of compliance with applicable regulations, identifying legal and operational exposure, and developing corrective measures and remediation strategies.
Esteban holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, a master’s degree in Business Law from Universidad de Alcalá, and a specialization in Digital Law from Universidad San Francisco de Quito.
