The Supreme Court’s Pegasus probe panel has sought public comment on enacting or amending existing laws and procedures governing surveillance, ensuring citizens’ right to privacy is not violated, and establishing a mechanism for raising grievances regarding suspicion of illegal surveillance, among other things. The panel has posed 11 questions to the public and requested responses by March 31. In October 2021, the Supreme Court established a technical committee chaired by retired Justice R.V. Raveendran (retd) to enquire, investigate, and resolve certain issues relating to a complaint of unauthorised use of Pegasus spyware against Indian citizens. Find the call here.
